Angela Slavens to Lead Black & Veatch Sulfur Technologies Group

Overland Park, Kan. (May 13, 2008) -- Black & Veatch, a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company, has named Angela Slavens as a Vice President in the company’s energy business. In her new role, Slavens will manage Black & Veatch’s sulfur technologies group.

Slavens’ responsibilities will include overseeing the development, deployment and licensing of Black & Veatch’s proprietary sulfur-related technologies worldwide.

“Angela is an expert in sulfur process design and management,” said Dean Oskvig, President and CEO of Black & Veatch’s global energy business. “Her knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in leading large-scale sulfur infrastructure projects provides her a strong understanding of our clients’ needs and objectives.”

Prior to being named to her new position, Slavens was Manager of Process in the company’s Gas, Oil and Chemicals business line where she directed Black & Veatch’s UK energy process operations, as well as business development across the European, Middle East, North Africa and India regions.

“Black & Veatch’s clients face many challenges in removing sulfur gases during natural gas and oil processing, and then safely storing or transporting the resulting elemental sulfur after processing,” said Oskvig. “In her new role, Angela will lead Black & Veatch in providing sustainable solutions to these challenges through the application and development of innovative technologies.”

Slavens joined Black & Veatch in 1996 as a Process Engineer following graduation from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Throughout her 12-year career, Slavens has worked on numerous natural gas and oil processing projects in the United States, India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. She also served as Lead Process and Systems Engineer for the Kashagan oil field development in Kazakhstan, the largest oil field find in the past 30 years. Her field experience has included roles in construction, operator training, pre-commissioning, startup, initial operations and performance testing.
