SOUTH EAST WATER / DYNAMCO
The Challenge
South East Water needed a series of maps showing the location
of rail and pipeline crossings for the South East. The maps
should identify where water pipelines cross over or under the
regions rail network, to enable engineers to select pipelines
that may be in a critical location for structural surveys,
and to highlight where pipeline and valve data is inaccurate
or currently unavailable.
Our Solution
The project involved the translation and coding of pipeline
information through a Geographical Information System onto
an Ordnance Survey MasterMap background. The pipeline crossings
were assigned an identification number and then printed. Each
map contained a variety of information showing the pipeline
location; the nearest valve to the pipeline and details of
the local infrastructure.
The project concentrated on the northern region of the South
East Water region with further work planned for the southern
region starting late August.
