THE SHIP UTILISATION SYSTEM
The Challenge
RMC Marine wanted a better way to manage information associated
with the ordering and supply of marine aggregates. A solution
was required which would remove the need for ships to return
to port to pick up new orders, whilst enabling processing to
be undertaken in the shore-based office, thus reducing the burden
for staff on board.
Our Solution
SUS (Ship Utilisation System) is an intuitive system which enables
users to create customer orders, allocate fleet resources, reconcile
deliveries with invoices and manage associated port charges.
It consists of a database accessed via separate interfaces for
shore and ship-based users. The shore-based interface allows
users to manage customer and resource information, and produce
management reports.
B&V also provides a concise enhancement, support and maintenance
service for SUS, which ensures compatibility with all new IT
systems and programmes.
Features include:
- Ability to create reports in Microsoft Excel, making the
information accessible and manageable.
- Simple generation of orders using filtered drop-down lists
and pop-up calendars.
- Automatic email notification from shore to ship once an
order has been created.
Integration of the Business Objectives
- reporting package,
which allows ease in the creation of internal, reports on
the companies Intranet site.
- Provision of a dynamic export utility for exporting data
directly into other applications.
- Easily editable format resulting in reduction in administration
errors and improvements in management.
Client Quote
Craig Howles, of RMC Marine, said: “SUS is an important
development for our company. Not only does it draw the vessels
into the hub of our management system, but the flexibility it
offers to manipulate data will have significant benefits in enabling
us to achieve a competitive edge”.
