KIMPTON EMERGENCY FLOOD INVESTIGATION - HELPING NORTH HERTFORDSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL
The Challenge
The district council needed to know which areas of the district
were at risk from flooding so that emergency response plans
could be implemented, and investments in flood defence could
be prioritised.
Our Solution
Airborne LIDAR data provides the most accurate means of surveying
land height. We interpolated the data to generate contours,
which provided the basis for a mathematical analysis that could
create and map flood contours and water flow pathways through
the district. We used a GIS to produce relevant and informative
maps to communicate the key issues to decision-makers.
