EAST ANGLIA BOREHOLE CAPTURE
Helping the Environment Agency manage its assets
The Challenge
The Environment Agency needed to collect substantial quantities
of borehole data in East Anglia; however they also needed a
way to manage this information and review it against existing
geological maps for the region.
Our Solution
BV conducted an asset survey of all boreholes. Pen PCs loaded
with the MIDAS GIS were used in conjunction with handheld GPS
sets to record data relating to the position of boreholes,
as well as condition information. We successfully designed
and delivered a new database application, loaded with the collected
data. The application was GIS-enabled so that overlays of background
data such as geological maps could be used to add contextual
value to the asset data.
